I was searching my computer for photos to make this thing more interesting and came across this portrait i shot for an assignment. I love this shot, it makes me want to shoot more portraits of people. this was shot on large format camera, and hand processed by myself, i love the whole process of using those cameras, so old school. This guy is such a character, he has been washing windows at the same set of lights for years. I can remember him being there when i was in grade 7 on the school bus. and he is there every freaking day too, all through summer, winter, I've even seen him trying to make some coin in the rain. I dont know if its true but he reckons he used to own a house and work as a financial adviser, and had a degree and every thing. then one year he put some money on a horse in the melbourne cup, won a shit load of money and decided to take some time off work. he met some woman who was into drugs and as he puts it "the rest was history....". he lost every thing.
it amazed me how much awareness he has of his own situation, but he is still incredibly content with his life. more so then a lot of people who do the whole 9 to 5 thing. he also told me that the horse he had money on was called " what a nuisance", and he said "it turned out to be quite aptly named for my situation..".
